Pupil Premium Funding

The Pupil Premium Grant is additional funding given to schools in England to help disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.

Sports Premium Funding

The DfE awards each primary school in England an annual amount of £16,000 plus an extra £10 per eligible pupil to help fund PE and sport. You can learn more about this funding here.

Schools are able to determine how this money is spent and are accountable for the impact of the expenditure. It is expected that schools will see an improvement against the following five key indicators:

  1. The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity
  2. The profile of PE and sport being raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement
  3. Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
  4. Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils
  5. Increased participation in competitive sport.

We use a range of methods to monitor the impact of the sports premium on PE, physical activity and school sport, including:

  • Staff reviews
  • Pupil interviews
  • Observations
  • Learning walks
  • Case studies
  • Data analysis
  • Attendance in extra-curricular activities.

The links below explain how this money was spent in previous academic years and the impact of the spending.
