We endeavour to create a trauma-informed setting by adjusting our policies, procedures and day-to-day running.
Trauma-informed approaches have been adopted as a means for reducing the negative impact of trauma experiences and supporting mental and physical health outcomes. The purpose of trauma-informed practice is not to treat trauma-related difficulties, which is the role of trauma-specialist services and practitioners. Instead, it seeks to address the barriers that people affected by trauma can experience when attending our school.
Middlestown Primary Academy is a proud member of the West Yorkshire Adversity, Trauma and Resilience Education Workstream which aims to create trauma-informed settings by 2030.
Our policies and procedures aim to increase staff awareness of how trauma can negatively impact our children, staff and communities, and their ability to feel safe or develop trusting relationships. Our school community aims to improve accessibility and quality of education by creating a culturally sensitive and safe environment for children and staff.
